The PORTUGUESE OPEN is back for the 9th
consecutive year. The perfect combination
of sunshine holidays and backgammon will
welcome international players from 14th to
17th of August 2014 in Carcavelos, just a
hop away from Portugal´s Capital Lisbon,
with its wonderful sunny beaches, the
excellent food and wine and the
comfortable hotel.
The RIVIERA Hotel **** is, once again, the
venue for this "classic" of the European
tournaments. A Special "backgammon rate"
of 95€/night (Single or Double), including
breakfast has been arranged.
Like all other WBA tournaments, all
divisions will enjoy the new and improved
FT-Swiss Format (out after 3 losses in a
Swiss format) and an Ultimate Fight (Last
Chance) on Sunday.
Various side-events are lined up: DMP-
Challenge, Doubles, Jackpots, Speed-
Gammon, Warm-up, etc.
Elite Group: 440 € entry + 60 €
registration + 10 € cocktail / optional
side-pool: 150 € (100% return) / 11 points
matches, Ultimate Fight 5 points, clocks
mandatory
Leisure Group: 80 € entry + 20 €
registration + 10 € cocktail / optional
side-pool: 50 € (100% return) / 7 points
matches, Ultimate Fight 5 points
Doubles: 170 € entry + 30 € registration
per team / 9 point matches, clocks
mandatory (3 min. per point + 15 secs.
delay per move)
Social guests: 10 € including Sunday

All entry fees will be returned at 100% to
the winners.
